We understand that as members of the fashion community, we have an important role to play in improving diversity and equality in the industry, and we are committed to doing our part to build a more inclusive future for everyone. Diversity, inclusion and equality are important values that drive who we are and who we want to be as a brand and we are accelerating our efforts to put those values into action.

Immediate action

In addition to our Code of Conduct and internal policies, here are some of the immediate actions that we are undertaking:

Establishing a Diversity and Inclusion Working Group: We are in the process of establishing an internal diversity and inclusion working group so that our team can have a voice in shaping the culture of diversity and inclusion that we are intent on achieving and in measuring our progress in this space. It is intended that the D&I working group will comprise a diverse cross section of employees from across our business and will play a role in regularly reviewing and developing the actions that we are taking to create a more diverse and inclusive organisation.

Reflecting the many different CAMILLA AND MARC women in our content: We understand that there is no one CAMILLA AND MARC woman. Our community is made up of many different women and we want to show this diversity in our content so that every CAMILLA AND MARC woman feels represented and valued. Our community has told us that they love seeing a diverse range of women represented in our campaigns and we are energised and inspired by that feedback to create content that gives voice to women from different backgrounds. We will continue to work to improve the diversity in our campaigns, shows, marketing and social media imagery.

Enhancing the accessibility of the CAMILLA AND MARC platform: We are implementing an accessibility audit across our website, EDMs and social media channels to ensure that our visual content is accessible to everyone. We are committed to ensuring that our website will be compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0 Level A) by the end of this year, in line with Australian government recommendations.

Supporting our Indigenous community: As an Australian brand we acknowledge the traditional owners of this land, their ancestors and elders. We have recently collaborated with Rona Glynn McDonald, founder of Common Ground Australia. Common Ground is designed to build a foundational level of knowledge for all Australians, and be a go to resource for those wanting to learn more and connect with our First Peoples. We encourage everyone to visit Common Ground Australia’s fantastic resources at https://www.commonground.org.au/. We are also working on forming an internal education programme to help educate our team about how we can embed a workplace culture that celebrates and acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and support their economic participation.

Creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace: CAMILLA AND MARC is a proud equal opportunity employer committed to promoting workplace diversity and creating a safe and respectful workplace for all employees. All employment decisions at CAMILLA AND MARC are based on business needs, job requirements and individual qualifications without regard to race, religion, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability status or any other aspect protected by law. We regularly review and redesign our processes and policies to ensure that they enhance diversity and support equal opportunities for growth in our company. We enforce a zero tolerance policy in relation to racism, discrimination, harassment or bullying in our workplace.

Educating ourselves: We know that we must continue to listen, grow and educate ourselves to support diversity and inclusion. We will be seeking guidance from independent diversity and inclusion experts including but not limited to guidelines from the Diversity Council of Australia and Reconciliation Australia about the actions we can take to improve our diversity and inclusion and make meaningful change in our business and community. We will also be providing diversity and inclusion training to our teams both corporate and retail.

Looking forward

We are excited about the initiatives outlined above but we also know that meaningful change will require a sustained commitment and evolving action. We are determined to continue to grow and improve as a company as we work towards achieving diversity, inclusion and equality within our company, our community and society at large.
